Affordable Fees and Appointments

Normally the individual therapy session lasts 50 minutes while 60 – 80 minutes is recommended for couples therapy. Routinely the fee is €90 – €100 VAT incl. per session while extended sessions are €120 – €140 VAT incl. Lower income, underemployed and unemployed clients find standard therapy fees prohibitive and in such instances pro bono with minmal service cost or substantial discounts can easily be arranged. Depending on the presenting issue an agreed amount of sessions can also be agreed when therapeutic goals are identified and a pathway forward planned. The initial consultation/assessment is approximately 50 minutes and normally costs 80€ VAT incl. VAT or Alv in Finland is charged at 25.5%. Not infrequently persons in crisis are in contact and nvariably are offered immediate appointments ie within 72 hours. In such cases the client has up to 5 hours to respond and accept the appointment offered. Otherwise the appointment will be offered to another client.

Client confidentiality is a key component of the therapeutic process and is also protected and assured under GDPR compliance and associated regulation. If there is any concern about public or individual health or safety there is an obligation on the service provider to notify the relevant authority. In the event of non payment for services rendered the next of kin is notified as part of the payment recovery process.

Currently due to specific Finnish regulations I am unable to provide KELA or HUSS subsidized psychotherapy. However lower income earners, students, unemployed and underemployed individuals or couples who find standard psychotherapy fees probibitive can arrange minimum cost or substanial discounted psychotherapy.

Due to work and related commitments many people are unable to attend counselling during normal working hours. Therefore evening and weekend appointments can be arranged to accommodate particular individual needs but currently there is a waiting period of 6 – 8 weeks.

When an appointment is scheduled the recipient has 24 hours from the time it is issued to confirm attendance otherwise the appointment will be offered to someone else.

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time and space, a minimum of 36 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation. If for any reason a session is canceled less than 36 hours prior, the full agreed fee  will be charged.
